How to Write a Resume With No Experience

Updated 28 September 2026 1 min read By LaunchCV.in

Show skills and potential using education, projects and activities.

No work experience does not mean no evidence.

  • Lead with education and projects.
  • Include internships, volunteering, college clubs and competitions.
  • Add relevant coursework or certifications.
  • Describe achievements with numbers when possible, such as team size or users.

Write for the role you want, not for every job at once.

Where experience hides

  • College festivals, clubs and sports teams
  • Helping a family business or a neighbour with a task
  • Freelance or one-off jobs, even small ones
  • Online courses with a final project
  • Volunteering and community work

Describe each in terms of responsibility and result: organised a fundraiser that collected an amount, coordinated a team of ten, or taught basic computing to a class.

Common questions

Do internships count?

Yes, including short ones. Describe what you did and learned.

What should I lead with?

Education and projects usually come first when you have no experience.
