Why interviewers ask this
Interviewers verify that you actually built what you claim.
How to approach it
State the problem, your role, the tech stack, one challenge you solved and what you would improve.
Example answer
I built a student attendance system in PHP and MySQL. I designed the database, wrote the login and reports, and solved duplicate entries by adding a unique key. Next I would add email notifications.
What a weak answer sounds like
It is a project about a website. I made it with a team.
It is vague, has no example and gives the interviewer nothing to remember.
Common mistake
Being unable to explain code or design decisions in your own project.
Follow-up questions to expect
- What was the hardest bug?
- What part did you personally write?
- What would you change now?
How to practise
Reread your own project code the night before and prepare to explain any file on your resume.
Use this as a pattern, not a script. Answer in your own words with your own examples.
