Why interviewers ask this
It tests prioritization and stress management.
How to approach it
Explain how you prioritized, communicated and delivered, using STAR.
Example answer
Before a college exhibition I had two days left to finish a feature. I listed must-haves, dropped a nice-to-have animation, and asked a friend to test while I fixed bugs. The demo worked.
What a weak answer sounds like
I worked very hard all night and somehow finished it.
It is vague, has no example and gives the interviewer nothing to remember.
Common mistake
Saying you just worked all night without any planning.
Follow-up questions to expect
- How did you decide what to drop?
- How did you communicate the risk?
- Would you plan differently now?
How to practise
Have one story where you prioritised, told someone early and delivered something usable.
Use this as a pattern, not a script. Answer in your own words with your own examples.
